Our Mission
Spring Sunshine advocates for a future in which neurodivergent teens with learning differences are guaranteed educational equity.
In South Korea, many neurodivergent teens with learning differences (including but not limited to autism, ADHD, and dyslexia) are unable to reach their full potential due to stigma and negative media portrayal of neurological differences. In a society in which being different is considered “wrong,” neurodivergent students are forced to fit into the predetermined standard of what is considered “normal.” As a result, in South Korea, many neurodivergent students and their parents hide the students’ learning differences, making it difficult for them to seek necessary accommodations.
Contrary to the stigma surrounding neurodivergence, neurodiversity leads to innovation. With differently-wired minds, neurodivergent individuals have their unique strengths. This means that they view the world differently than their neurotypical counterparts, driving new ways of thinking and even innovation. With appropriate accommodations and a supportive learning environment, all students, including those with learning differences, can reach their full potential and flourish.
At Spring Sunshine, we aim to destigmatize harmful preconceptions of neurodivergence, foster an understanding environment for neurodivergent teens in our society, and create an inclusive society in which everyone enjoys educational equity.
