What is Neruodiversity?
According to Harvard Health Publishing, neurodiversity is “the idea that people experience and interact with the world around them in many different ways; there is no one “right” way of thinking, learning, and behaving, and differences are not viewed as deficits.”
Spring Sunshine aims to raise awareness of neurodiversity, increase understanding of neurodivergent individuals, and foster a more inclusive environment for everyone.
"You're like a spring sunshine."
In the popular K-drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo, autistic attorney Woo Young-woo calls her law school classmate Choi Su-yeon a “spring sunshine.” When Young-woo was attending law school, she had no friends and nobody bothered to tell her any important information. Seeing this, Su-yeon helped Young-woo by telling her test dates and notifying her whenever the lecture hall changed. Young-woo expresses her gratitude for Su-yeon’s warmth by comparing her to a spring sunshine.
The foundation of Spring Sunshine was inspired by this quote. We aim to be of a similar warm existence to neurodivergent teens. Spring Sunshine focuses on advocating for the educational equity of neurodivergent teens in South Korea as well as around the world.
